Chief Growth Officer

Location IconEurope

This is your chance to drive the international growth of an exciting business at the intersection between battery and E-Mobility circularity!

Our client is seeking a Chief Growth Officer (CGO) to join their executive team and lead their growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing and implementing successful growth strategies that increase revenue and market share. The CGO will work collaboratively with the CEO and other key stakeholders to drive growth and profitability across all areas of the organisation. We are looking for someone who is creative, data-driven, and has a strong understanding of customer behaviour and market trends.

The company is a world leader in providing energy storage solutions that use repurposed and second life electric vehicle batteries. They have systems operational in the UK, and several European countries, proving technology in a wide range of applications.  They also have strong relationships with a range of global automotive and battery OEMs, some of whom have invested in their business.

The availability of second life batteries (sourced from battery / EV OEMs and EV Fleets) is critical to their success and they are now scaling up both their technology and their business operations internationally. Hyperion is helping them to recruit a Chief Growth Officer who can strengthen and expand their business to capitalise on this availability.

The Role

Our client’s growth hinges on the battery supply partnerships and the ability of the business to monetise these through 4 key business units - Technology Development (Consultancy), Industrialisation, Aftersales and Project Development (BESS) – whose growth will sit within the remit of the CGO.

Most likely based in northern Europe, the successful candidate will have existing relationships with the global automotive battery OEMs, EV OEMs (car, bus, truck, offroad and rail) and organisations operating and/or financing fleets.  You will be a highly credible sales and commercial leader with a proven and demonstrable track record of building and monetising strategic relationships in the automotive sector within Europe and ideally further afield.  Ideally your involvement with batteries and/or electric vehicles will have given you an understanding of the energy storage sector and some of its key stakeholder groups.

Alongside your key focus on building strategic battery supply partnerships you will also own the growth of the 4 business units.

You will be an accomplished leader with an exceptional ability to work with remote and international colleagues, teams and organisations to research, build and deliver growth strategies in partnership with critical stakeholders.

Some of the main responsibilities of a Chief Growth Officer will include:

·       Market knowledge: Analysing customer, competitor and market data to identify growth opportunities and improve customer acquisition and retention.

·       Growth Strategy: Developing, leading and executing growth strategies including market penetration, customer segmentation, pricing optimisation, and product-market fit, to drive revenue growth and maximise market share for each of the 4 business units. Driving commercial and technical innovation across the organization to ensure long-term growth and competitiveness.

·       Sales leadership: Provide strategic guidance, leadership and mentorship to the sales team, setting clear goals, targets, and KPIs. Foster a high-performance sales culture, optimise sales processes, and drive continuous improvement in sales effectiveness. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of growth initiatives

·       Marketing alignment: Collaborate closely with the marketing team to align sales and marketing strategies, ensuring a cohesive approach to lead generation, brand positioning, and customer acquisition. Drive effective marketing campaigns that generate high-quality leads and support revenue growth objectives.

·       Partnership development: Developing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, partners, and investors. Identifying, creating and contracting client specific solutions.

·       Revenue forecasting: Develop accurate revenue forecasts, financial models, and revenue planning initiatives. Monitor revenue performance, identify revenue gaps, and implement strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets.

·       Growth operations: Managing budgets and resources effectively to ensure the successful execution of growth initiatives and setting, monitoring and reporting on key performance metrics to track progress towards goals.

The main requirements for a Chief Revenue Officer may include:

·       Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field

·       Proven track record of driving sales, revenue growth and market share expansion in a similar role within a scale-up business.
