We’re delighted to be partnering with our client, BSTOR, Belgium’s leading independent stationary battery storage project development, financing and ownership boutique, backed by a well-established cohort of strategic investors and financing stakeholders.
BSTOR have developed, financed and own 75% of the first battery project connected to the Belgian high voltage grid, in operation in Bastogne since 2021: EStor‑Lux (10MW - 20 MWh). BSTOR also recently announced financial close and start of construction for a 50 MW – 140 MWh project in La Louvière and for a 100 MW-270 MWh project in Aubange. Commissioning of both projects is expected in 2026.
BSTOR’s ambition is to remain the frontrunner in battery development and financing in Belgium and has secured a >GW scale pipe of land and grid connection rights in various stages of development beyond these 3 projects. BSTOR’s intention is also to initiate on short to mid-term international diversification and diversification towards the behind-the-meter business model.
To support the ambitious growth of the company, BSTOR is looking for a talented and committed Sales Manager.
Your Role
Your main responsibility will be to lead the sales process to secure dispatch optimization services for the assets through long term flexibility purchase agreements (FPAs). You will be supported by a market and revenue modelling expert and in general you will be responsible for the “revenue side” of the BSTOR projects business model.
You will be part of the development team, reporting to the Heads of Development, but also with a dotted line and close collaboration with the Executive Committee. The company also has a collaborative culture, so you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams across BSTOR.
Tasks
- Developing BSTOR’s view on market evolution and valuation strategies for batteries. Integration of this view into the business models and early design phase (e.g. definition of optimal storage duration, build-up of the behind-the meter business models)
- Single point of contact with bidders for the purchase of the flexibility from BESS assets and lead of the whole negotiation and contracting processes:
o Redaction and issuance of RfIs and RfPs
o Leading the process of RfI and RfP until proposal of preferred bidders to Management and Executive Committees
o Leading the process of contract negotiations with the support of the Legal department.
- Support to the Heads of Construction and the Head of Operations for contract management during respective phases
- Maintain and expand network and good relationship with counterparts
Your Profile
- MSc in Economics and/or Energy
- 5+ year of experience in valuation and/or sourcing of renewable energy and/or flexible assets
- Deep knowledge in hedging and opportunity strategies in trading and supply activities
- Familiar with constraints from non-recourse financing
- In love with problems solving. No task is too little or too big to you!
- Full professional proficiency in English, with French, Dutch, or German a real plus
- Self-starter, “whatever-it-takes” attitude, team player (lone wolves not welcome!)
- Energy transition enthusiast (battery freaks welcome)
